Development status of chemical fiber industry

According to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China’s chemical fiber production increased year by year from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, the output of chemical fiber of our country reached 59,53 million tons, an increase of 18.79 percent compared with 2018. From January to August 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, the growth rate of China’s chemical fiber production slowed down to 38.27 million tons, 2.38 percent less than that of 2019. Production is expected to exceed 60 million tons in 2020.

On the demand side, the sales revenue of Chinese chemical fiber has been growing year by year. In 2014, the sales revenue of Chinese chemical fiber industry reached 721.19 billion yuan. In 2019, the sales revenue of Chinese chemical fiber industry reached 857.12 billion yuan. Increasing pressure between supply and demand of chemical fiber in our country. Under the influence of the novel coronavirus epidemic, China’s chemical fiber sales revenue decreased to 502.25 billion yuan, down 15.5 percent year on year.

Since UHMWPE fiber broke through the key production technology in 1994, a number of UHMWPE fiber industrialized production bases have been formed in China.

Due to its good impact resistance and high specific energy absorption, the fiber can be made into protective clothing, helmets, and bulletproof materials in the military, such as armor plates for helicopters, tanks and ships, radar shields, and missile shields, bulletproof vests, stab-proof vests,,shields, etc.
